摘要
This paper develops and tests a novel Float Code Genetic Algorithm, (FCGA) for facility layout design, avoiding the disadvantages of Standard Genetic Algorithm (SGA) applied in facility layout design. problems, such, as the low precision, limited searching field, and the carnplex programming. The difference between FCGA and the SGA is that the float coding strategy is applied to replace the binary coding strategy, which takes the facilitys' center of figure coordinate as gene to construct chromosomes directly. Consequently the FCGA strategy applied in the facility layout design reduces the limitations of Genetic Algorithm, acquires higher accuracy, and avoids the local optimization. Furthermore, the float code strategy is also convenient for the programming of GA. Finally, the processes of FCGA are detailed, and a given case study demonstrates the novel strategy practical.
