摘要
The relation between endometriosis and cancer is unclear. Epidemiologic studies suggest that endometriosis is a risk factor for ovarian cancer, specially endometriod and clear cell ovarian carcinomas. Endometriosis-associated carcinoma tends to present at an earlier stage and to have a better prognosis. Various genetic mutations, common to endometriosis and ovarian cancer, have been described. Because of the low malignization risk, it is not recommended screening for ovarian cancer. There are also no data that indicate that prophylactic oophorectomy reduces the risk of ovary cancer in patients with endometriomas.
