Planning, fabrication and setting into operation of a novel semi-trailer with forced steering system

Steered semi-trailers are governed by partly contradictory regulations, which often cannot be fulfilled with ordinary steering systems. Company Fahrzeugbau Langendorf developed and built a semi-trailer with a novel type of electronically controlled forced rear steering system. Extensive driving tests and computer simulations were done with this vehicle. From the results of testing and simulations can be derived, that the new electronically controlled forced steering system offers advantages to conventional systems in regard to road area require ment, lateral dynamics, safety behaviour and efficiency.
