The influence of cross-relaxation to the 1.8 μm emission of Tm3+ in tellurite glass

摘要
The spectroscopic characteristics of Tm3+ tellurite-doped glasses have been investigated in the present paper. The influence of Tm3+ ions concentration on the intensity of 1.8 mu m emission and the cross-relaxation mechanism are discussed. The cross-relaxation rates between the H-3(4)-> F-3(4) and H-3(6)-> F-3(4) were calculated via the measured lifetime of H-3(4). The results show that the rates increases sharply with the increase of Tm3+ ions concentration. The 1.8 mu m emission intensity can be effectively improved through the cross-relaxation process.
