摘要
Simvastatin characterizes antioxidant, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, and anticoagulant properties. The aim of the study was to estimate free radical scavenging activity of simvastatin at different physical conditions by the use of electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. Simvastatin was storage at room temperature, 37 degrees C, and 41 degrees C, and it was exposed to ultraviolet irradiation. The antioxidative character was stated for all the simvastatin samples, which quenched free radicals. The higher free radical scavenging activity revealed the heated simvastatin than that storage at room temperature. Simvastatin may be exposed to ultraviolet irradiation, but the storage temperature should not be increased. The kinetics indicates fast free radical interactions of the tested samples. Electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy is useful to optimization of storage conditions of simvastatin.
