Medical radioisotope 89Zr production with RFT-30 cyclotron

摘要
Zr-89 is an emerging radionuclide with promising application in nuclear medicine for the non-invasive diagnosis of various cancers with PET imaging. This paper would discuss optimization efforts in the production of Zr-89 carried out at Accelerator Radioisotope Development Team, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. Optimized conditions reveal high production yields of Zr-89 similar to 37 +/- 1.4 MBq/mu A using Y-89(p,n)Zr-89, similar to 12.7 MeV of proton, and 35 mu A using yttrium coin target with indigenously constructed 30 MeV Cyclotron (RFT-30). Besides, the production optimization, quality control, and biological behavior of [Zr-89]Zr-oxalate, chloride and, DFO demonstrated promising results.
