Hypoparathyroidism - An unusual cause for nonprogress of labor

Primary hypoparathyroidism is a rare disorder. Untreated hypoparthyroidism can result in severe maternal hypocalcemia and may result in pregnancy loss. Good and reliable biochemical tests have made the diagnosis easier, but alterations of the calcium-phosphorus metabolism, during pregnancy, make it more difficult to treat hypoparathyroidism. Despite the availability of highly active and potent medications, there are still occasional reports with complications during pregnancy, largely due to inadequate intake of medication. We report one such case here.
