Investigation of non-uniform material distribution of top charging system at Gary Works No. 13 blast furnace

摘要
Non-uniform circumferential material distribution occurred in the small bell chamber at Gary Works No. 13 blast furnace. A 1/6-scale top charging distributor model was built to investigate the effects of materials, skip car position, distributor rotating direction and speed. Test results indicated that the distribution depended on the distributor rotating speed, snout-starting position, material flow rate and pattern in the receiving hopper. Based on the model tests and mathematical modeling, a solid flow regulator was developed. By using the flow regulator, non-uniform circumferential distribution on the small bell was reduced significantly.
