Microturbines for landfill gas utilization - Use at the landfill Kirschenplantage of the Kassel district

Microturbines using landfill gas are currently available in a power range of 30, 65 and 200 kW(el). The usage in landfills enables easy electrification of the landfill gas, even with fluctuating methane contents between 30 and 55 vol.-%, so that a landfill gas utilization in the closure and post closure phase of a landfill is possible. Microturbines have a good exhaust performance because of operating with a large excess air. Therefore, they have a relatively low combustion temperature and thus a low formation of thermal NOx.
