摘要
Everyday compression problems are unmanageable without a divide and conquer approach. To conquer the compression problem, state-of-the-art lossy compressors divide the encoding operation into a sequence of three relatively simple steps called the transform coding. This paper explains the fundamental principles of transform coding which apply equally well to images, audio, video, and various other types of data so abstract formulations are given.
