摘要
The introductory paper presents this monographic issue titled: Teaching and learning History: Cognitive and cultural aspects. In the first four sections, the current significance of the subject is justified and the contents of the monographic issue are introduced. They are organised around two important dimensions of History education: cognitive and cultural Regarding the cognitive dimension, the scope of the skills and didactic resources involved in learning to think historically are outlined. With respect to the cultural dimension, we analyse why formal history education continues to be closely linked to the construction of identity and transmission of collective memory. In the last section, the aims of the present monographic issue dealing with these two dimensions of History education are described, as well as bow the different papers are organised.
