The Spirit of Canadian Philosophy: Reflections on the Idea of a Tradition

This article examines two influential essays: The Study of Nature and the Vision of God, by the early twentieth century Canadian idealist, George John Blewett, and The Politics of Recognition by the contemporary Canadian social and political philosopher, Charles Taylor. In considering these very different essays, an effort is made to illuminate shared concerns, methods, and perspectives in an attempt to articulate and to support the idea of a distinctive Canadian tradition in philosophy.
