摘要
The properties of nuclei along the N = Z line are of singular interest. The fact that protons and neutrons occupy the same orbitals in these nuclei means that the effects of shell closures at various values of Z, N and deformation are enhanced. Their inherent symmetry also makes them ideal for studies of n-p pairing, isospin mixing and isospin effects at high spin. The N = Z nuclei also lie close to the astrophysical rp-process pathway and a knowledge of their properties is vital for our understanding of this process. In the present work, studies of nuclei along the N = Z line, both with he;heavy-ion-induced, fusion-evaporation reactions and fragmentation products from high-energy collisions, are reviewed. The future of such studies is discussed briefly.
