Carbon paste electrodes (CPEs) modified by iron phthalocyanine (IP/CPE) and a ionic liquid 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium-bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl) imide (IL/CPE) and an unmodified CPE were investigated and compared in rutin solution by voltammetric techniques. IL/CPE had the widest usable potential window 2.5 V and the highest current response. IP/CPE had the lowest limit of detection (LOD) 80 nmol/L by differential pulse voltammetry. IL/CPE had the lowest LOD 5 nmol/L by differential pulse adsorptive stripping voltammetry. Rutin was detected and quantified in boiling water extract and Soxhleth extract of buckwheat seeds using all three electrodes.
