Equations of state of MgSiO3-perovskite and MgO (periclase) from computer simulations

Equations of state for MgSiO3-perovskite and MgO (periclase) obtained by fitting molecular dynamics simulated volumetric data with high-temperature Birch-Mumaghan form are compared with the latest experimental data, computer simulations and analytical estimates. Our data are in excellent agreement with the data by Funamori and Yagi (1996, J. Geophys. Res., in press) for perovskite and with Duffy et al. (1995, Phys. Rev. Lett., 74: 1371-1374) for periclase. We observed strong temperature dependence of thermal expansivity of perovskite at low pressures. The magnitude of the delta(T) parameter is close to the value provided by Anderson et al. (1996, this volume:) and is different from the Patel et al. (1996, this volume) value. A possible explanation is provided.
