摘要
Previous research recognized the value of entrepreneurial work of university lecturers. Identifying the motives for engagement in entrepreneurial endeavors is required to strengthen the nation's quadruple helix consisting of university, industry government and citizens for socio-economic development. This paper explores the key motives of university lecturers to act entrepreneurial. Through semi-structured interviews with thirty Sri Lankan university lecturers at three state universities, we identified a set of key motives related to different institutional settings. Finally, we generated eight research propositions to direct further research on academic entrepreneurship in countries with limited university-industry linkages.
