Study and Simulation of HF Ground Scatter in the EKB HF Radar Field-Of-View

摘要
We study features of the echoes scattered by ground surface in field-of-view of the Ekaterinburg HF radar (EKB) located near Arti village (56.4 degrees N, 58.5 degrees E). We present calculation results of monthly averaged intensity of the received echoes dependent on azimuth and distance from the radar for January and May, 2014. In order to interpret the revealed features, we present simulation results of ground scatter intensity. The simulation is performed on the basis of the waveguide approach developed by ISTP SB RAS and takes into account ionosphere state, location, and technical parameters of the EKB radar.
