Synthesis of dye based colored polyesters by interfacial polymerization

摘要
This article describes the synthesis of phenolphthalein and fluorescein type of dyes by condensation reaction of aliphatic dicarboxylic acid like - adipic acid with four different aromatic hydroxyl compounds like - phenol, resorcinol, pyrogallol and beta-naphthol separately. The synthesized dyes were then used for synthesis of polyesters by stirred interfacial polycondensation technique with terephthaloyl chloride. (TPHC) in 1,2-dichloroethane. These colored polyesters contains an aliphatic lactone ring. An oxygen-bridge exists in the case of fluorescein type of dyes. The structures of dyes were confirmed by elemental analysis, solubility test, FTIR and thermal behavior by DSC. All the four polyesters were characterized by elemental analysis, solubility test and FTIR.
