Enhanced photoactivity of silica-titania binary oxides prepared by sol-gel method

摘要
The enhanced photoactivity of silica-titania binary oxides prepared by sol-gel method was discussed. The photodegradation for methyl orange with 30SiO2/TiO2 samples calcinated at different temperature under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation was also illustrated. It was found that the oxygen vacancies, acting as the capturing centers of the photoelectrons, can stop the recombination of photoelectrons and photoholes, which help to increase the photoactivity of 30SiO2/TiO2.
