摘要
In food animal medicine, administration of drugs is still very important. The problem of possible drug residues in food, however, demands controlled drug use. The present article describes legal aspects of drug use in food animals by the veterinary practitioner. The causes of drug residues in individual animals after systemic administration as well as in larger groups of animals following oral administration of drugs are discussed. The importance of false positive residue findings is indicated. Measures to avoid and reduce drug residues in food of animal origin are supposed. It is pointed out, that the practising veterinarian has a special responsibility in this field.
