PARP-1 drives slumber: A reciprocal relationship between sleep homeostasis and DNA damage repair

摘要
Sleep-wake cycles are orchestrated by the circadian clock and a sleep homeostat that records accumulating sleep pressure. Zada et al. (2021) now show that DNA lesions, recognized by PARP-1, accumulate in neurons of zebrafish larvae and promote homeostatic sleep pressure. © 2021 Elsevier Inc.
