摘要
Spontaneous esophageal perforation is a life-threatening condition requiring early diagnosis and aggressive surgical behavior. It is usually located on the left posterolateral wall in the distal third of the esophagus. Delayed diagnosis and inadequate treatment lead to mediastinitis, pleural effusion, empyema, and subsequent fatal outcome. Mortality and morbidity in this condition are extremely high. Esophageal stenting is used in clinical practice for a wide range of esophageal diseases and conditions. We presented the case of a 48-year-old man admitted to our Department of Thoracic Surgery who was treated with a stent-in-stent technique for spontaneous perforation of the esophagus and developed three esophageal strictures.
