A Frequency-Dependent Prandtl-Ishlinskii Model of Hysteresis Loop Under Rotating Magnetic Fields

Recently, and during the measurements of core losses in electrical steel laminations, it has been observed that as the excitation frequency of the rotating field increases the measured hysteresis B-H loop rotates around the origin, thus, a lower frequency loop seems to slide out of the higher frequency loop. This phenomenon complicates the frequency-dependent modeling of hysteresis under rotating fields and causes inaccurate prediction of core losses when conventional hysteresis models are used. In this study, a frequency-dependent Prandtl-Ishlinskii (FDPI) hysteresis model is proposed to characterize the hysteresis loops under rotating magnetic fields at different frequencies. The proposed FDPI model shows a decent level of accuracy in the prediction task of hysteresis loops at different frequencies.
