摘要
Overactive bladder symptoms and incontinence are major problems that disturb both the patients' and their caregivers quality of life. Anticholinergic therapies are effective, but have restrictions in their use in neurogenic overactive bladder patients due to high side effects inidence, interference with the disease process itself or the treatment. Botulinum toxin applications into the detrusor muscles have been more popular recently since there is minimal side effect, high efficency, pure local effect that prevents detoriation of the disease process or interfere with medical therapies. This review gives the latest data on the use of botulinum toxin injection therapy for neurogenic overactive bladder patients. (Archives of Neuropsychiatry 2010; 47 Supplement: 44-7)
