Conducting La0.7Sr0.3MnO3-superconducting YBa2CU3O7 epitaxial bilayers grown by chemical solution deposition

We report on the preparation and characterization of a bilayer system on (001) SrTiO3 substrates consisting of a YBa2CU3O7 (YBCO) superconducting layer grown on a conducting La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 (LSMO) buffer layer. Films were prepared by all chemical solution deposition process using propionates precursors for LSMO and trifluoroacetates for YBCO. Highly epitaxial LSMO layers of 30 run with atomic flat surfaces have been obtained at 1000 degrees C with magnetic and electrical properties similar to the bulk ones. The YBCO growth conditions for epitaxial layers of 300 nm were optimized giving rise to high performance bilayers structures with critical current densities, J(C), about 2 MA/cm(2) at 77 K.
