摘要
A new application of a technique combining scanning electron microscopy and image analysis has been developed to characterize the coating layer of lightweight coated (LWC) papers. This technique allows determination of coating thickness uniformity by taking into account local variations of coating thickness due to base stock microroughness. The statistical treatment of the data is presented. The results obtained on commercial LWC paper samples showed good correlation with print-quality data obtained by a subjective-ranking method.
