Effect of Fungicide Seed Treatment on Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Germination

Influence of fungicide seed treatment on safflower seed germination and its related parameters was evaluated. Seven different treatments were assessed in period 2008-2009. Fungicide treatment had statistically significant influence on germination energy and total germination. The year of seed production had statistically significant influence on above mentioned parameters. Mean germination value was 88.76 % in 2008 and 92.67 % in 2009. The higher level of slow germinated seeds was found in 2008 (11.27 %) and contrary 1.37 % in 2009. There was not found statistical significant interaction between treatments and calendar month. Germination energy and total germination was lowest in Vitavax 2000 treatments. The highest level of slow germinated seeds was found in Vitavax 2000 treatments too. Almost all total germination values were in accordance with Czech laws. Selected treatments are able to cause unbalanced germination.
