摘要
Myoglobin is probably the best studied iron protein because of its simple globular structure and its vital importance as oxygen storage protein in muscles. Nevertheless, there are still a series of questions open, e.g., about its phonon density of states governing the paramagnetic relaxation of the iron center and details of the iron-oxygen bond. Nuclear resonant forward scattering (NFS) of synchrotron radiation is expected to provide additional information on these topics complementary to conventional Mossbauer spectroscopy.
