The article researched Deyeuxia angustifolia's chemical constitution, fibre shape and feasibility for a kind of papermaking raw material. Through a size of study, the content of holocellulose and cellulose is 60.14% and 33.18% in Deyeuxia angustifolia respectively, content of Klason lignin is 19.62%, the content of acid soluble lignin is 2.16%, the benzene-alcohol extractive content is 3.50%, the pentosan content is 25.73% and the ash content is 3.50%. The yield of chemical pulp is 47.3% by alkaline pulping. But alkali charge (by NaOH) is only 10%. Using unbleaching pulp made corrugated paper whose weight is 112g/m(2). Through a test of paper properties, tearing strength is 22.2mN, breaking length is 6.6km, and ring crush index is 7.4n.m/g. Its performance excelled A-grade corrugated paper in national standard. Various intensity indexes of finished paper were similar to Chinese Alpine Rush. The conclusion indicated that Deyeuxia angustifolia was a fine raw material for papermaking. It could replace Chinese Alpine Rush in some conditions.
