摘要
In Minor Declamation 339, Demosthenes proposes a bill barring from taking part in public counsels those who were taken prisoner by Philip at Chaeronea and returned free of ransom. In this suasoria, references to Demosthenes' orations seek to construct an ethos matching the figure of the champion of Greek liberty. Other literary references, for example a not particularly flattering biographical anecdote, add to the flavour of the text, in which Horace's presence is consistently felt.
