Goji Berry (Lycium Barbarum L.) and its role in lipid metabolism: a systematic review

摘要
The objective of this systematic review is to demonstrate the results of published studies on the action of Lycium barbarum on lipid metabolism. Scientific articles published between the years 2013 to 2018 were investigated in the scientific databases PubMed, Science Direct, Cochrane Library and Web of Science. The PICO (patient, intervention, comparison and outcomes) method was used to guide the research. The Cochrane Collaboration Tool was used to assess the risk of bias in the studies included in this review. Of the findings, we selected 05 articles relevant to this review. The results of the studies showed beneficial effects of supplementation of the Lycium barbarum fruit on the decrease of VLDL-C, LDL-C, TC (total cholesterol) and increase in HDL-C levels. However, further studies should be performed to standardize the preparation, type, dose and recommended intake time to standardize or ensure.
