摘要
For the purpose of definition of failure criteria for natural building stones to be used in structural restoration works of ancient monuments, the mechanical behavior and fracture of Dionysos marble is studied in the presence of U-shape notches, by application of the concepts of Crack Opening Displacement (COD) and fracture toughness (Critical Stress Intensity Factor - K-IC). Experimental investigation comprising Double Edge Notched Tensile (DENT) specimens and 3- or 4-Point Bending (3PB/4PB) tests on Single Edge Notched (S EN) specimens, revealed the dependence of both critical COD and SIF on the type of test and the relative size of the notch with respect to the size of the specimens. The experimentally derived fracture parameters were used for the validation of the models created for the numerical analysis.
