摘要
This study aims to quantify the characteristic compressive strength of concrete prepared with waste foundry sand up to 50% in two manners. The first one is based on the experimental way and another one is through a probabilistic/statistical manner. 100 numbers of cube samples were formed and tested to find the optimum composition based on the maximum compressive strength. The maximum strength achieved from the conventional and non-conventional concrete samples from the experimental observation was taken for further statistical analysis. For the statistical study, the statistical parameters were evaluated for the generation of twenty-three types of probabilistic distribution curves for doing the three goodness-of-fit tests (GOF) such as Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S), Anderson-Darling (A-D), and Kolmogorov-Smirnov-Lilliefors (K-S-L). From these tests, it was found that, log-normal distribution came with the best fit of distribution which properly suits the experimental observations. Finally from the expire-probabilistic study, it was concluded that, 20% replacement of foundry sand in concrete offered better strength compared to conventional one with 0% foundry sand and that one present a sustainable and economic concrete.
