Task of reinforced concrete in Central European sacral architecture of Roman Catholic church

Reinforced concrete architecture played an absolutely essential role in the development of the modern sacral architecture. In the first part there are presented the most distinctive forms of the reinforced concrete structures that were used in the sacral architecture. These forms are showed on the selected churches or chapels. The second part divides reinforced concrete churches into two groups. The first group contains churches, where the structure is used in an effective way and the architectural and structural design goes hand in hand. The second group represents sculptural approach in the reinforced concrete sacral architecture. Selected examples show the possibilities of the shapeless substance shaped in any forms. The conclusion evaluates the task of the reinforced concrete in the modern sacral architecture in the 20th and 21st century.
