Occurrence and clinical features of viral hepatitis C in hemophilia children.

115 children with hemophilia A and B aged 2 to 17 years living in Moscow or Moscow Region were examined for hepatitis C infection. Families of the examinees had poor knowledge of HCV infection sequelae. HCV infection was found in 55.8-40.5% of the children depending on the number of transfusions and duration of the symptoms. Posttransfusion hepatitis C in children with hemophilia is characterized by latent course, The treatment of chronic hepatitis C consisted of intramuscular injections of roferon A (3 000 000 IU 3 times a day). Maintenance of hemostasis at the level 20-30% allows conduction of interferon treatment for 12-18 months without hemorrhagic complications.
