摘要：

Hepatocellular carcinoma is a cancer associated with underlying inflammation. Although infection with hepatitis B or C virus continues to account for the majority of cases of hepatocellular carcinoma, the population-attributable fraction due to nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is rising rapidly, in parallel with the global obesity epidemic, and is driving an overall increase in the incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma and related deaths worldwide.1 A recent study by Pfister et al.2 suggests that, when clinicians are treating hepatocellular carcinoma, etiologic factors may need to be considered.
