Correlation Effects on 'Electron-Test Charge' Dielectric Functions of a Spin-polarized Electron Gas

We present correlation effects on the spin-resolved 'electron-test charge' dielectric functions epsilon(up arrow up arrow)(q) and epsilon(down arrow down arrow)(q) of a spin-polarized electron gas (SPEG). The correlation effects are included in terms of spin-dependent local-field corrections (LFCs). Numerical results of spin-resolved static dielectric functions, which are formulated with a use of self-consistent local-field corrections, are compared with those of the random-phase approximation (RPA). We show that correlation corrections suppress the dielectric screening for parallel spin carriers in an SPEG. But, the behavior of spin-polarization dependence for epsilon(up arrow up arrow)(q) and epsilon(down arrow down arrow)(q) goes in opposite directions.
