Compact and wideband millimetre wave circularly polarised antenna array based on a SICL to waveguide transition

摘要
In this study, a planar compact circularly polarised antenna array is proposed for 71-78 GHz E-band applications. The antenna array consists of four cavity-backed patch antennas, which are fed by substrate integrated coaxial line (SICL). A novel waveguide-to-SICL transition is introduced to serve as a power divider for simplifying the sequential-rotation feed network. The achieved bandwidth with S-11 < -10 dB is 19.9% (68.1-83.2 GHz). The measured axial ratio bandwidth below 3 dB is about 9.3% (71-78 GHz) and the measured peak gain is 12.3 dBi. The measured data are in good agreement with the simulated results.
