摘要
The sulphate catalysed oxidation of iron(II) by thallium(III) has been studied in aqueous perchloric acid. The reaction is first order each in oxidant and reductant whereas less than unit order in sulphate concentration. Increase in the perchloric acid concentration decreases the reaction rate. The added product thallium(l) does not significantly affect the reaction rate, while added iron(III) retards the reaction rate. A possible mechanism is proposed and the reaction rate constants involved in the mechanism have been evaluated.
