Tn this paper, we present a modification of the Generalized Takagi-Sugeno (GTS) model (Fiordaliso, Proc. EUFIT96 Conf.. vol. 1, 1996; pp. 581-586). The key idea is to constrain the conclusions of each rule to perform a convex combination of the input patterns. This constraint allows to interpret each rule as an input patterns mixer and therefore contributes to a better understanding of the fuzzy system inference. We illustrate the functioning of the constrained system which is next applied for purposes of combining forecasts. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
