Heteronuclear [Copper(II), p-Element] Complexes Containing the N1,N4-Bis(salicylidene)isosemicarbazidate Ion

The heteronuclear [copper(II), p-element] complexes with N(1),N(4)-bis(salicylidene)isosemicarbazide, (C(5)H(12)N)CuL center dot MCl(3) center dot CH(3)OH (H(3)L = HOC(6)H(4)CH=NN=C(OH)N=CHC(6)H(4)OH; M = Bi(3+), Sb(3+), Ga(3+), In(3+)) and (C(5)H(12)N)CuL center dot SnCl(4) are synthesized. It is established that H(3)L functions as a tetradentate O,N,N,O-ligand. In the coordination compounds, the Cu(2+) ion is linked to the p-element ions through the oxygen atoms of the phenolic OH groups of L(3-). It is shown that, in the temperature range 30-80 degrees C, the resistivity of the complexes exhibits a temperature dependence typical of semiconductor materials.
