A new circle detection method based on Hough transform

摘要
In this paper, we analyze the good and bad of the traditional circle detection method based on Hough Transform, especially for several recent Hough Transform circle detection methods based on the circle's geometrical feature, and proposes an effective and convenient circle detection method based on Hough Transform. The method fully utilizes the circle target's geometrical feature that the hypotenuse's midpoint is corresponding to the center of a circle if the three points on the circle boundary constitute a right-angled triangle to reduce the 3-dimension parameter space to the 2-dimension space, which not only decreases the necessary computing time and the occupied memory, but also not affect the detection accuracy. Simulation experiments have been conducted by using the proposed method, and we compare the performance of our method and the other two methods based on Hough Transform. Our method proves to be valid and edge detection results turn out to be satisfactory.
