Fatty acid composition and toxic activity of the acetonic extract of Carica papaya L. (Caricaceae) seeds

摘要
The oil from the acetonic extract of Carica papaya L. seeds was analyzed by gas chromatography. It contains glycerides and free fatty acids. The main components were a triglyceride with three oleic acid ester functions (24.98%) and oleic acid (24.62%). A bioassay carried out with the acetonic extract and Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith, showed 60% larval mortality after 10 days of treatment.
