Effect of certain plant growth regulators on growth and yield of sunflower

摘要
Studies were conducted to investigate the physiological and biochemical effects of certain plant growth regulators on yield and productivity of sunflower cv.Co4. Foliar spray of salicylic acid at 100 ppm resulted in maximum seed yield (14.81 g plant(-1)) followed by foliar spray of mepiquat chloride at 125 ppm (12.78 g plant(-1)). The yield enhancement could be due to improved physiological and biochemical parameters observed viz., plant height, Leaf Area Index (LAI), Specific Leaf Weight (SLW), Net Assimilation Rate (NAR), Leaf Area Duration (LAD), Total Dry Matter Production (TDMP), Harvest Index (HI), Chlorophyll and Soluble Protein content.
