摘要
Starting with a broad definition of security, which admits the importance of political, economic, social and environmental factors, the European Union addresses security challenges caused by the environment. Considered a security field, in the view of the Copenhagen School, the environment has imposed on the contemporary risks and threats agenda in a very little anticipated manner. Environmental insecurity sources are multiple, and their development is aggravated by an intrinsic connection between the political decision and the economic interests. This includes extreme weather conditions, depletion of natural resources, pollution factors that can ultimately lead to disasters, regional tensions and violence.
