Thanks to the 100th anniversary of this important art school, the author describes impacts of Bauhaus on landscape design and landscape architects of the 20th century. The most noticeable impact is seen in the American landscape realizations because Bauhaus leaders were forced to emigrate just to the United States. Modernism has established there as the most important post-war style and has influenced landscape architects not only through the buildings themselves, but also through paintings, sculptures or furniture design. Especially the gardens as part of the gesamtkunstwerk" were perfectly connected with the interior - see outdoor rooms. The aesthetics of simple lines have moved far beyond the popular compositions of Beaux Arts that preceded modernism. Everything is documented through the contribution of such followers of the Bauhaus ideas as Ch. Tunnard, T. Church, G. Eckbo, D. Kiley, and L. Halprin. All these designers were able to use the land effectively, to work perfectly with terrain or light. They celebrated the freedom of using geometric forms, the flexibility of the gardens, and new technologies and materials.
