Crack growth analysis in homogeneous orthotropic laminates

In this paper a boundary-element formulation for analysis of crack growth in homogeneous orthotropic laminates is presented. The crack growth process is modelled by an incremental crack extension in a direction determined by the maximum circumferential stress criterion. The application of the method is demonstrated by solving several edge-crack configurations. The influence of the orthotropic material properties on the crack path is demonstrated.
