摘要
Background: Smokeless tobacco (ST) products are widely used because of the prohibition of the use of cigarettes in closed areas and the fact that they are less dangerous because smoke is not inhaled. Therefore, it is important to change these misconceptions about ST products. Methods: Ninety ST users who were high school students (35 controls, 39 interventions) were included in study. Data were collected using a questionnaire form, Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependency scale (FTND), Stages of Change scale, Processes of Change (POC) scale, Self-efficacy (SE) scale and Temptations (TM) scale. After the baseline data were collected, the individuals in the intervention group conducted five motivational interviewing. Twelve months after the intervention, final data were collected from the experimental and control groups. Results and Conclusions: In the baseline, there was no statistical difference between two groups in term of all parameters (p > 0.05). In final observation, FTND score in intervention group decreased and POC score and SE score increased; TM scores were lower in the intervention group than the control group, 46.2% of ST users in the intervention group quitted using ST and there was statistical difference between intervention and control groups in term of these parameters (p < .001).
