Crystal structure and hydrogen absorption properties ofLa(Ni,M)x (M=Al, Co, Mn, Si x=3 greater than or similar to 7) melt-spun ribbons

摘要
The present study describes the appeared phases and hydrogen absorbing properties of the non-stoichiometric LaNix and LaNi(x-1)M (M=Al, Co, Mn, Si) melt-spun ribbons. A new metastable phase with TbCu7-type structure is observed in LaNix (x>5) melt-spun ribbons. A high melt-spinning rate is able to form the single phase of the TbCu7 structure. It is found that the Mn or Si addition stabilizes the CaCu5 structure in wide compositional range of LaNix-1Mn (X=5 similar to 6.5), or LaNix-1Si(X=5 similar to 8) melt-spun ribbons. But the amount of absorbed hydrogen decreases with increasing Ni content.
