摘要
Eight traditionally preferred indigenous tree species of Northeast India were carbonized in a laboratory-scale fixed bed reactor at temperatures ranging from 300 degrees to 800 degrees C with a heating rate of 3 degrees C/min and their mass balance of decomposition products at various terminal temperatures were determined. The charcoal samples thus produced at various carbonization temperatures were analyzed for their density, ash content, volatile matter, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen contents. The highest heating value of each of the charcoal samples was calculated as a function of its carbon, hydrogen and oxygen contents.
